She was Nice to Mice, By. Alexandra Sheedy, 1976

A whimsical adventure through history, imagination, and storytelling.
She Was Nice to Mice is a charming, history-meets-fantasy series that reimagines the court of Queen Elizabeth I — through the eyes of a clever young mouse who secretly chronicles life inside the palace walls. Generations later, her descendant, Esther, inherits the diary and begins sharing its tales on her podcast, transporting her audience into the vivid world of the past.
As Esther dives deeper into the diary, her imagination takes over. She becomes a hidden observer at court, offering witty and heartfelt insights into royal life. The series invites viewers to see what Esther sees — using lush live-action scenes and subtle visual effects to bring her storytelling to life.
Blending the elegance of The Crown with the playfulness of The Tale of Despereaux, this child-friendly series offers a fresh, imaginative way to explore history — full of humor, curiosity, and heart.
Adapted for a new generation by Aundroma Projects, in collaboration with Alexandra (Ally) Sheedy and her team, She Was Nice to Mice celebrates the 50th anniversary of the beloved book — originally written by Sheedy and published when she was just 12 years old.
Ally Sheedy is best known for her unforgettable roles in 1980s classics like WarGames, Short Circuit, St. Elmo’s Fire, and The Breakfast Club. Her career spans film, television, literature, and education. In addition to acting and producing, she is a professor at New York City College, where she teaches theater and writing.
Now, five decades after the book’s publication, Sheedy’s story finds new life — inviting today’s audiences to discover the magic, mystery, and mischief of history through the eyes of a very special mouse.
