Linda Eastman photographing Paul on assignment for Crawdaddy! in 1968
eighteen months Before Rolling Stone, before there was Creem, and long before MTV, there was Crawdaddy!—It was the first magazine to capture the soul of rock ’n’ roll in print - with stories images that no one had ever seen before. At the center of it all was a young, visionary journalist - a seventeen year old college kid named Paul Williams, who ignited a movement and Helped to define what music journalism could be.
With a team of groundbreaking writers, photographers, and artists, Paul helped turn writing about music into an art form. This project celebrates his pioneering spirit and the cultural revolution sparked by Crawdaddy!.
Aundroma Projects has partnered with the Paul Williams Estate to develop a limited television series and companion documentary exploring the story of Paul, his team, and the magazine that changed the game for Rock and Roll.
There is also a very active instagram account for this project that explores music culture using the same methods that Paul used in his work.
